ABSTRACT:
From 1999, a group of Advanced Skills Teachers working in North Yorkshire schools introduced the science based thinking skills packaages appropriate to the age of their pupils i.e. Let's Think (KS1), Let's Think Through Science (KS2) and Thinking Science (KS3).
For 6 years they analysed the relevance of recent research outcomes from neuroscience and linked them to models from cognitive psychology, to understand and explain the reasons for the significant improvements to their intuitive exceptional practice.
They found both Piaget's ideas and those of Vygotsky could be explained in terms of brain plasticity.
